Nicholas Russoniello

Originally from Wollongong, Nick has performed in various settings both in Australia and abroad, especially in Italy. In 2010, as a member of the New Reed Quartet, Nick performed as a soloist with the Orchestra Dell’ Academia di Schio, Vicenza. Nick has performed throughout Italy with the Syrinx Quartet, including for the prestigious La Societa Dei Concerti Milan. The Syrinx Quartet was the 2009 winner of the Conservatorio di Milano’s Ferrero chamber music competition. At home in Sydney, Nick performs regularly in the Duo Histoire with Murilo Tanouye (guitar), giving concerts throughout Australia. Duo Histoire’s self-titled debut recording (2008) has been played on radio stations across the country, including ABC classics and 2MBS radio, Sydney.

Nick’s studies in saxophone began at Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he graduated from the Bachelor of Music (performance) course with first class honours. As a student of the SCM, Nick received a number of awards and scholarships which allowed him to pursue international study. In 2004 and 2006 Nick attended the European Summer Saxophone University in Gap and in 2007 was awarded a BBM travel scholarship to travel to London and Paris for lessons with teachers including Marie Bernadette Charrier, John Harle, Jean Denis Michat and Christain Wirth. In 2010 Nick completed his post-graduate diploma with full marks at the Conservatorio di Musica Di Milano “G.Verdi” where he studied with Marco Bontempo and Mario Marzi.

Nick became a member of Continuum Sax in 2011.
