Sunday March 22nd between 2-5pm, Methodist Ladies College (Kew) with Neville Shade and Monty Mackenzie
This session is for clarinet and saxophone students in Years 10, 11 and 12 who are studying or intending to study VCE Music Performance , and teachers of VCE Clarinet and Saxophone.
The afternoon will include:
¨ Strategies for successful preparation in Units 1-4 VCE Music Performance
¨ Discussion of the criteria students will be marked on
¨ Performances of a selection of works from the VCE Music Performance Prescribed Lists on both clarinet and saxophone
¨ Opportunity for discussion on different elements of VCE Music Performance and instrumental playing at this level

About the presenters:
Neville Shade graduated from Melbourne State College with a B.Ed. He is an AMEB Examiner, Deputy Director of Music at Methodist Ladies College, and a professional woodwind doubler and teacher. He has been involved with the recent AMEB syllabus reviews and new syllabus development. Neville also takes a keen interest in the development and improvement of the teaching of woodwind instruments. He is well known for presentations to students and staff on areas of exam preparation, practice techniques, coping with exam anxiety and instrumental woodwind teaching.
Monty Mackenzie has been a constant figure in the Melbourne music scene for over a decade. He has featured in many ensembles including Antelodic, Cleverhorse, Harmless, Flow and Plenty and the Nathan Slater Trio. Monty completed an Advanced Diploma of Music in 2003 at Box Hill TAFE and a Bachelor or Music Performance (Improvisation) at the Victorian College of the Arts 2006. During this time he studied with many jazz heavy weights including Jamie Ohlers, Julien Wilson, Andy Sugg and Tony Buchanan. Monty currently teaches Saxophone at Eltham High School where he has held the position since 2007.
Both Monty and Neville are highly experienced VCE specialist instrumental teachers with an extensive background in performance preparation for VCE practical examinations.
