Clasax recently held our Annual General Meeting where we bid farewell to our outgoing President, JoAnn Griffiths and Vice-President, Barbara Cooper.

JoAnn has been the President of Clasax for 13 years and during that time, oversaw the formation of 2 new ensembles – Clarimania and the Mixed Woodwind Ensemble. Pictured here with her predecessor, Ian Morgan (who was the Clasax President for 25 years!), JoAnn will continue to be involved with the society as a general committee member and by conducting Clarimania and the Mixed Woodwind Ensemble.

Barbara has been on the Clasax committee and in charge of running the Performance Competition for over 20 years. Barbara will continue to be involved with the society through performing in the Clarinet Ensemble and Clarimania. From all of us at Clasax, we congratulate both JoAnn and Barbara for their incredible contribution to the society!

Clasax are thrilled to announce that Brendan Toohey has been elected to the position of President. Brendan has previously been a member of the Clarinet Ensemble for many years before becoming their conductor and joining the committee as webmaster in 2022.

We also welcomed two new general committee members, Lauren Arnett and David Knott who each bring their own unique experience and skills to the society. The Vice-President role currently remains vacant, although it is not compulsory position that legislatively needs to be filled, if you are interested in joining the Clasax committee please get in touch and let us know!
