Ao Kun (China)

Ao Kun is an award winning and experienced saxophonist. Currently he is the saxophone lecturer at the Wu Han Conservatory of Music in China and is a Rico Artist.

Ao Kun performed a solo program at the “14th World Saxophone Congress ” in Slovenia(2006). As a true academic, apart the heavy load of teaching commitment he see it is as a duty to generate new works for the saxophone during last three years. Among the new pieces composed by the Chinese composers, Aokun choose two new pieces which he thinks are worthy to be added to the world saxophone literature.

Aokun was born in Jiang Xi province of China in 1975. He graduated fro the Music Conservatory of Jiangxi Normal University. Aokun studied with Zou JianLin and Li YuShen(2001). He gained Master degree in performance from Conservatory of music “Niccollo Piccinni” (Italy) with Marco Albonetti(2006).

Aokun won the First Prize at the “15th Barletta International Youth Musician Competition” in Italy, and won the Gold Prize at the “3rd Massafra international Music Performance Competition” for the saxophone section in Italy. After that Aokun has hold more than 40 recitals in China and Italy. He performed Debussy’s “Rhapsody” and Ibert’s “Concerto da Camera” with Hu Bei Symphony Orchestra in 2008.
