Super Sax Sunday 2015

CLASAX is thrilled to be running Super Sax Sunday for the fourth year in 2015, this time with clinician Dr James Nightingale.

The schedule for the day will be as follows:

9:00am Registration
9:30am Warm up/ Ensemble Rehearsal 1
10:45am Morning Tea
11:00am Masterclass: James Nightingale
12:00pm Forum: Sam from D’Addario reeds.
12:45pm Lunch (Please BYO)
1:30pm Forum: James
2:15pm Ensemble sectionals
3:00pm Ensemble Rehearsal 2
4:00pm Afternoon tea/set up concert
4:30pm Concert

 

 

This day is for saxophone players of all ages and abilities– school students, teachers, university students and community musicians. The day will include

· Masterclasses

· Forum-style discussions

· All-in saxophone ensemble

· Concert to conclude the day featuring both James Nightingale and the SSS Ensemble

· Presentation by D’Addario reeds

About Dr James Nightingale:

James Nightingale (BMus, MMus, PhD) is the alto saxophonist with Australia’s premier saxophone quartet, Continuum Sax. He is highly sought-after as a soloist and ensemble player both in Australia and internationally, and has released a solo CD (Drive) and three albums with Continuum Sax, all featuring predominantly Australian works.

James has extensive experience as a saxophone teacher and examiner, including fourteen years as a member of the part-time casual staff at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (1996-2009). He was engaged by the Australian Music Examinations Board to be the consultant editor for the AMEB Saxophone Series 2 grade books (released in 2008). He currently teaches saxophone at Sydney Grammar School
